Available Dogs

  • Astra-Von-Nicholson_562x269All of our dogs are spayed/neutered and are up-to-date on rabies, bordetella, and DHLP or equivalent vaccinations. A current rabies certificate and current vaccination records are provided to adopters.
  • Our dogs are healthy, to the best of our knowledge, unless we specify otherwise. We do our best to disclose known conditions, injuries, and emotional issues. We do not warrant the future health or behavior of any animal.
  • All of our dogs have passed a strict temperament evaluation test and further assessment during fostering. However, dogs respond differently depending on their environment and the leadership provided. We do our best to match each dog with an appropriate adopter but cannot guarantee how a dog will behave in your situation.
  • Most rescue dogs have little or no training. We try to provide house training and basic socialization but obedience training and most socializing are the responsibilities of the adopter.
  • Each dog is assigned a dog rating level that sums up the amount of experience and leadership the dog requires for an adoption to be successful.

Abigail was originally adopted from us in 2010 as a three-month-old puppy and was recently returned when her owner could no longer care for her. When she came back she was covered in yeast infection and had lost about a third of the hair on her body. She is now on a healthy diet and has overcome her skin issue. (The photo was taken early in her recovery.) Very sweet and quiet, she is crate trained, housebroken, has very good manners, and walks nicely on a leash. Abby gets along well with other dogs but we are not sure about cats.

Zelda is a high energy, spirited, happy, sweet girl about 5 years old. She is not a dog for a first-time owner but would be a great addition for a family with German Shepherd or similar breed experience who understands the need for structure, leadership, and training. Zelda gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home but you won’t have squirrels or cats in your yard if she has her way. Now she is ready to find someone with the dedication to direct her energy in a positive way.

But the Shelter People Said it was a Dog….

Although we are primarily a dog rescue, we aren’t species snobs. We occasionally rescue cats, and we’ve even been known to rescue sheep.

Three-year-old Mimi is a sweet, cuddly longhaired calico house princess. When given the opportunity to be outside, she will always choose to stay inside, usually in a cushy spot.  Mimi prefers a nice soft bed of her own or a lap to roughing it outside.  Like all of our rescues, she is spayed and current on vaccinations.
